Start with the dog in front of you

A rescue dog's history may be incomplete, but training does not need to be built on guesswork. We look at the behaviour, temperament, environment and relationship developing now, then help you create routines the dog can understand.

Not every rescue dog has a behavioural problem. Some need help with ordinary foundations, while others may struggle with fear, handling, unfamiliar people, dogs, new places, separation or life inside a home.

Build confidence without rushing

Training is paced around what the individual dog can cope with and may include:

  • Predictable home routines and settling
  • Engagement and reward communication
  • Lead walking and recall foundations
  • Confidence around people, dogs and environments
  • Handling, grooming and veterinary preparation
  • Independence and time alone
  • Management for reactivity, guarding or over-arousal

Support for the dog and the owner

Living with a nervous or reactive rescue dog can be isolating. We provide practical guidance without judgement and set goals around safer, more manageable everyday life rather than promising a quick transformation.

One-to-one rescue dog training is available in Kegworth, Castle Donington, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Loughborough and surrounding East Midlands areas. Remote support may also be suitable depending on the problem.
